Bioactive Soil Mixes
Our ABG bioactive soil mixes are ready to pour straight into your enclosure. Each blend is built to drain well, hold its structure and give live plants and clean-up crews like isopods and springtails a place to thrive.
Which bioactive soil do I need?
- ABG Terrarium Mix – the classic tropical blend for crested geckos, gargoyle geckos, dart frogs, tree frogs and planted vivariums.
- ABG Semi-Arid Blend – a drier, sandier mix that holds burrows for leopard geckos, bearded dragons, uromastyx and other desert species.
- ABG Tarantula Mix – a firmer blend for tarantulas, scorpions and other burrowing invertebrates.
How much soil should I buy?
Most builds need 8–12 cm (3–5 inches) of soil over a drainage layer of clay bio balls. As a guide, a 45 × 45 cm (18 × 18 inch) enclosure takes roughly 20 L of soil at 10 cm deep. Top it with leaf litter and moss to finish the build.
