Substrates by layer
- Drainage: Clay bio balls keep soil from waterlogging and protect plant roots.
- Humidity-holding base: coco fibre, cypress mulch and melaleuca hold moisture for tropical reptiles and amphibians.
- Texture and airflow: coco husk chips and granulated cork stop soil compacting.
- Arid builds: canyon sand and orange desert sand mixed with soil hold burrows for desert species.
